Meals from the Heart - 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team "Serves an Ace" In Community Service
The 8th grade girls' volleyball team from St. Al's/St. Pat's School "served" up a delicious meal at the Ronald McDonald House in Lincoln Park on October 28. Ronald McDonald House is an organization that provides a home-away-from-home for families who need to stay close to their hospitalized children. With the expert help and guidance from Food Network Celebrity Chef Paul Young (Julie B.'s cousin), the Celtics started off their meal with a spring mix salad with freshly made herb vinaigrette. The main menu included Chicken Vesuvio with Roasted Potatoes, Sloppy Joes, and Broccoli with red pepper. To end off the meal, the girls made festive Halloween cupcakes. The team received many compliments on their beautifully prepared and scrumptious meal.

The fans were treated to some very competitive Volleyball play along with delicious concessions and lots of Celtic Spirit. Athletic competition at St. Als St. Pats is an opportunity for our students to learn teamwork skills and to develop lifelong healthy exercise habits. On top of all that, the activities are great fun for participants and spectators alike.

Basketball and volleyball players were acknowledged and then everyone cheered for their classmates during some fun spirit-building games. The Student Council, under the direction of Mr. O and Ms. Burke, worked hard to create some great challenges that had different grade levels competing energetically.
