Chess Club
This is the fifth year of St. Alphonsus / St. Patrick School Chess Club. The Chess Club meets on Wednesdays after school in the cafeteria for one hour. Students can still join from K-8... it is a great chance for girls and boys to do something at an any age but it presents a unique opportunity for our younger students because our athletics programs do not start until 4th grade. Currently our Chess Club has over a dozen members and has room for more!

Chess Tournament

On Friday, April 15, the Chess club players from St. Alphonsus-St. Patrick School participated in the Noonan Academy Chess Tournament. Our students on all levels came home with medals and trophies as a result of their fine play. Congratulations Chess Team!

4th Annual Chess Club Tournament

St. Al's/St. Pat's School hosted its 4th annual Chess Club Tournament on Friday, November 5. Sixty-seven children from seven different schools participated in an evening of fun and challenge. St. Al's/St. Pat's won first place in the K-1 division with Alex taking first place and Ian taking second place. Other placing participants include: Albert, Ryan, Grace, Billy, Joe, Matthew, Scarlett, Jeremy, Connor, Cameron, Nathan and Brendan. The evening was filled with fun and spirited competition and our very own Chess Champions represented St. Als- St. Pats very well!
Family Chess Night

Approximately 40 people gathered for a family filled night of fun. Parents learned the game of chess and got to try their new talent on their experienced children. Lots of fun was had by all!!!

Chess Club

Take a look at this thoughtful bunch! The Chess Club gathers after school under the tutelage of Mr. Theo Poulous. From beginner level to more advanced, the students learn new strategies and improve their thinking skills while having fun with friends and the game of Chess.

Chess Tournament - Friday, November 6, 2009

There will be a Chess Tournament on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at our school. This is a great event for first time tournament players.
- All chess players, K-8 are invited.
- Four divisions - K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and 6-8.
- Team and individual awards; everyone receives an award.
- Entry fee is $20.00.
