Extended Day Program

Overview

Overview

Our Extended Day program provides before and after school care for our students in any grade.

It begins with morning care from 6:45am until first bell at 7:30am and is supervised by our first grade teacher, Mrs Gottardo.  Children are welcome to work on homework (assistance is available), socialize, play games, read, etc.

Our after school care begins at dismissal and runs until 6pm each school day.

Students are welcome to take part in their after school extra curricular events and then complete their day in our extended day program.

Our after school care is supervised by a minimum of one adult coordinator for each 10 children.  Students in our after school care are welcome to work on their homework (homework assistance is available if needed), participate in our frequent STEM & craft group activities, play on our playground, with supervision (weather permitting), utilize our computers for homework or educational software, and enjoy the occasional popcorn and a movie!  Our after school program is flexible and allows each student to utilize their time in a way that is both productive and enjoyable.

All of our after school supervisors are background checked and VIRTUS trained.

Our after school facility is secure and parents/ guardians are only admitted into the building after visual confirmation.  We do not "buzz" anyone in using an intercom. Students are only released to an adult who has been prearranged to pick them up.

Our students are welcome to bring their own healthy snacks.

There is a $50 registration fee (for after school care only) to cover the costs of supplies for the year.

The hourly fee for our extended day is $6.00 an hour for the first child and siblings are an additional $5.00 per hour.  This is billed in 1/2 hour increments. A late fee of $10.00 per 5 minutes per child will automatically be charged after 6:00pm.

As a parent, you can relax and feel confident that your child is in the capable hands of our staff making productive use of their before and after school time.

Please submit the Extended Day Weekly Sign-Up Form that is available on the school website under the Extended Day Program menu. Please sign your student up by Sunday at 9:00pm in order that the school office can be notified by Monday morning with the weekly schedule of students attending.

The sign up is very important for many reasons, including avoiding after school confusion. In an emergency, notify the school office at 630-783-2220 if there is going to be a change in the weekly or daily schedule for your child.

Be sure your child knows where they are going each day.  This especially helps with the children with irregular schedules. We can no longer assume that the child is going to the Extended Day Program even of they attend regularly.

Important Information

Important Information

Please be sure to sign your child out on the Extended Day Weekly Billing Form. This is very important for billing purposes. If you do not sign your child out you will automatically be charged until 6:00pm because we will have no other way of knowing when you picked up your child.

If someone shows up to pick up your child and they are not listed on the registration form or we have not received a note, you will receive a phone call in order for us to get your permission to release your child.

Discipline

Discipline

The Extended Day Program adheres to the same disciplinary policy as the regular school day. In addition, we have the option to institute a Green, Yellow, Red Light System.

If necessary, your child will begin each day on Green, but if they show disrespect, do not follow directions, or are rude toward staff or others, their name, after having been given one warning for one incident, will be moved to Yellow with the next incident. The name will be moved to Red with another incident. If they do reach the Red Light, they will spend their next visit to the Extended Day Program in the Principal’s office for the duration of the afternoon.

If you see your child’s name has reached the Yellow or Red Light level when you pick them up, please ask staff to explain the situation as it will be documented in the daily log. If your child stays on Green for the day, as we expect they will, we have a reward system in place to reward them for their great behavior. (For example, respecting staff and others, respecting property, following directions, no talking back, etc.) .

With the wide age range of children attending the Extended Day Program, respecting each other is extremely important.
