There are all kinds of activities in our local communities to keep your student busy this summer...from checking out joining Boy Scouts (they have a June 15th activity), summer camps at the Park District and area universities, to theatre workshops and performances (some of our alums are in "Barnum"!).

NJHS Personal Care Drive ends tomorrow! Please share some personal care items for Lemont's food shelters.
Did you forget to order a SchoolKidz Supply Kit? The paper orders have been processed and sent in, but you
may still order online through tomorrow! If you choose not to purchase the kit, use the list from the supply kit
flyer to do your summer shopping. 2018-19 supply lists will be on the school website after June 1.
Student Council is sponsoring a "Candy for the Congo" sale next Monday and Tuesday during the lunch hours.
Purchase some old fashioned candy sticks for only $.50/each to help support our Mission Club.
Attention Bus Riders...bus service for this school year will end after next Thursday morning's routes. District 113a
closes out their school year with an early dismissal Thursday, May 24, so we will not have bus service available
beginning with our after-school dismissal that day. Please be sure you have car rider arrangements prepared!
Gym uniform orders for the 2018-19 school year will be accepted in the office through June 1. The orders will be
forwarded to Lina Embroidery and will be available at school for pick-up on Meet the Teacher Day August 16.
You may order directly with Lina at any time during the summer and request that your order be included with
those being delivered to school in August.
The completed green Transportation Request form you received in the April 19 Thursday Envelope is due in our school office
tomorrow if you wish bus service for the 2018-2019 school year.
Schoolbelles is offering a customer appreciation sale through June 2 -- a good chance to stock up for next fall!
It's Friday Night Live at the Lemont Park District's tennis courts tomorrow evening!

Last week's FunDay was a fun day! The weather was perfect for a walk-a-thon. The "silly stations" seemed more like work-out stations. A fun time was had by one and all! Pledge sheets and tally cards went home on Monday to those who still need to turn in their pledge monies...all are due by next Tuesday.
All Athletic Association families are invited to tomorrow evening's Award Ceremony...and ice cream social!
NJHS is collecting personal care items for our local food pantries now through May 18.
Gym Uniform order forms for the 2018-19 school year may be sent to the office and we will forward them to our
supplier Lina Embroidery. Your order will be ready for pick up at school on Meet the Teacher day in August. You
may also order directly from Lina's store at any time during the school year.

The use of Chromebooks and Google Suite for Education continues to evolve here at St. Al/St. Pat's, and it has been determined that the restricted use of Gmail accounts for students in grades 3 through 8 will have meaningful educational outcomes. Along with turning on the Gmail app for the students we will also be fully implementing guardian email summaries.
The STEAM Museum will be here next Thursday...we could use one or two additional parents for help!
FunDay is next Friday! It is an EARLY DISMISSAL day, but there will be NO BUS AT DISMISSAL. Be sure to have
your pledge sheet turned in by Wednesday!

Our annual funDay! is coming May 4. This is our last fundraiser for the school year, and will be an early dismissal.
Pledge sheets are inside today's Thursday Envelope for all K-8 students.This is an easy event to have friends and
family help with your fundraising commitment...they can pledge an amount per lap completed during the walk-a-thon,
they can pledge an amount per Silly Station activity completed, or they can simply pledge a flat fee. All pledge
sheets must be returned by Wednesday, May 2.
The Tentative Calendar for the 2018-2019 school year is inside today's Envelope. Please be aware these dates are subject to change.
Shop for next year's school supplies the quick and easy way...with a SchoolKidz Supply Kit. Order forms are
inside today's Envelopes according to your child's grade level for next year. Orders may be placed with this
paper order form by Friday, May 11; or you may order online beginning next Tuesday through May 18. If you
choose not to order the supply kit, please keep the list to use for your summer supplies shopping trip.
Inside today's Envelope is the District 113A Bus Transportation Request form for the 2018-19 school year. A
completed form is needed for each K-8 student, even if he/she will not be utilizing this service. Please return
the completed form to our school office no later than Friday, May 18.

crops to plant in the particular environment she lives. We learn through her circumstances that the Catholic

This week we encounter Cesia in Nicaragua, who through the efforts of CRS, has been given an opportunity
to participate in a YouthBuild program in her community. YouthBuild helps young people in need learn
leadership, job, and business development skills. She was able to pursue her dream of building a thriving
business making and selling cattle feed and then teach others to do the same. CRS and YouthBuild give
witness to Catholic Social Teaching and the pillar of the dignity of work and the rights of workers. Work is
important to help people fulfill their potential and all are entitled to a fair wage to provide for themselves and
their families. Your change in your Rice Bowl can change the world.

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, March 21, between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m.
Please print out the conference request form below and return it by Thursday, March 8. If you feel your child is doing
well and a conference is not needed, that is perfectly okay - no conference need be scheduled. Teachers, however,
also have the option of scheduling a conference should they feel there is a need.

This week we ENCOUNTER Majd in Iraq, who through the efforts of CRS, has been given an opportunity to go to a CRS-sponsored school after he and his family had to flee their homeland when ISIS attacked. His mother has been trained to help and teach at the school. CRS has provided hope and stability to families like Majd's. We are called to give witness to Catholic Social Teaching. One pillar of CST is life and dignity of the human person. Safety and security are essential to living a dignified life - something migrant families hope and pray for. The CRS Rice Bowl Program provides. We will collect Rice Bowls at a morning prayer on Wednesday, March 28 and offer a special blessing.
The final classes are sending their Kids Kreations artwork home in today's Envelopes, along with an order form.
All orders, payments and the original artwork must be returned to school no later than next Friday, March 2, so
our school order can be placed and our students' artistic creations completed in a timely manner.
Yearbook has extended the due date for shout-outs to Friday, March 9. Our 2017-2018 school yearbook is
almost complete and will go to press before Spring Break -- so don't miss out on this opportunity to share a
special message for your student!

KidsKreations artwork is coming home today from some of our classrooms. This original artwork makes unique
keepsakes and wonderful gifts for the entire family. Orders are due to be returned to school no later than Friday,
March 2.
All students were presented a Rice Bowl and special blessing for strength in the purpose of almsgiving. A letter explaining the CRS (Catholic Relief Services) Rice Bowl Program is below. This is a voluntary program, but should your family choose to participate, the Rice Bowls can be brought back to school on Wednesday of Holy Week and presented in a special way at morning prayer.

The Archdiocese has asked us to share a Fact Sheet of the new Invest in Kids Tax Credit
Scholarship Program. The "Invest in Kids Act" is a new initiative that provides a new way to fund
scholarships for eligible low income students to attend private K-12 schools in Illinois. Scholarships offered through this program have the potential to cover up to 100% of tuition and eligible fees for next
school year. We are still learning more about the rules of the program, the application process, and
timing, and will share details as they are finalized.

Spirit Week begins tomorrow and runs through next Thursday - be sure you know each day's theme so you know what to wear! All are welcome to join our fun at Friday's (tomorrow) pep rally and "Our Country Quiz of Thee" next Wednesday; both begin at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium.
Each year the Archdiocese requires that this letter be sent to school parents if any asbestos exists in the
building. In the summer of 2013 we removed carpeting covering asbestos-containing floor tile and mastic
located in flour classrooms and part of the main hallway. In addition, we removed asbestos-containing
floor tile and mastic from the main office and three classrooms. All work was performed by a State
licensed abatement contractor in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
